St Davids Penknife Club 24hr Charity Walk
The Penknife Club and friends of the Penknife Club ran another successful charity walk this August. The first 20 hours or so were dry until rain set in Saturday morning, but not before our Mayor, Cllr. David Griffiths walked three laps in his robes at 6am on Saturday. He is pictured with one of the organisers from the Penknife Club, Les James.
Many other Councillors and locals joined in the event including the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Sarah Foster and other members of the Penknife Club, who completed their laps in the rain on Saturday morning – they should have got up earlier!
Some of the money raised will go to St Davids Girl Guides, who partook in the walk, along with The Brownies. The Guides also contributed to the event selling delicious homemade cakes on Saturday morning . A cheerful sight on a wet and windy morning!
Other charities who will benefit are Give the Boys a Lift and Alaw Rees, a little girl from Cardigan who is 3 years old and raising funds to help her buy her first braille equipment as she starts her learning journey in school. Alaw and her family started the walk off with Les Friday afternoon.
This was another successful community event engaging various groups in our special City. Thanks goes to the Penknife Club on behalf of the City Council for organising this brilliant event and to all those who took part. Diolch I chi gyd!
